The chicken sandwich wars of the early 2020s permanently changed how we evaluate fast food chicken. Popeyes, Chick-fil-A, and others raised the bar so high that consumers now arrive at any chain with genuine expectations. So where does Burger King's Ch'King (and its successor lineup) land in 2026? We ordered, we ate, we have thoughts.

The BK Chicken Sandwich Lineup

BK's chicken sandwich options have evolved considerably. The current core offerings include the Classic Chicken Sandwich (the original, long-running version), the Crispy Chicken Sandwich (the newer, more substantial competitor to Popeyes and Chick-fil-A), and the Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich. We focused our review primarily on the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which is BK's direct answer to the chicken sandwich boom.

The Crispy Chicken Sandwich: In Depth

The Chicken Itself

The chicken patty is genuinely solid. It's a whole-muscle breast filet (not processed), fried with a seasoned breading that achieves a respectable crunch. The meat is juicy โ€” this is the biggest thing BK gets right. Dry, overcooked chicken is the death of a chicken sandwich, and BK's version is consistently moist through multiple tests. The seasoning is mild but present, with a slight black pepper and garlic note.

The Bun

A potato bun, slightly toasted. It's soft, slightly sweet, and holds together well through the meal. This is notably better than the standard sesame bun. The bun-to-chicken ratio is well calibrated โ€” it doesn't overwhelm the protein.

The Toppings

Standard setup: mayonnaise, tomato, lettuce. Simple. No complaints, no surprises. The mayonnaise is more than adequate. The vegetables are fresh enough. Nothing here elevates the sandwich, but nothing brings it down either.

The Verdict

Better Than Expected, Not Best in Class

The BK Crispy Chicken Sandwich is a legitimately good fast food chicken sandwich. It won't dethrone Popeyes or Chick-fil-A, but it doesn't embarrass itself next to them either. The chicken is juicy, the bun is quality, and the value proposition is strong. If you're at a BK, absolutely order it.
